In order to create an enjoyable and safe online experience on our sites, we ask that all users understand and comply with our site Terms and Conditions. At various points on our website, we may collect personal information.  Our privacy statement explains the information we collect on this site and how we use it.

We reserve the right at our sole discretion to change, modify, add or delete portions of our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy at any time without further notice.  If we do this, we will post the changes to the Terms and Conditions or to the Privacy Policy on this page and will indicate at the top of this page the date of the last revision.  Your continued use of the service or our site after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms and Conditions and the new Privacy Policy.

Personal Information We Receive

We offer users the option to provide us personal information that may be used to enable people to communicate with legislators and other public officials, as well as personalize their user sessions.  If you choose to register on our site we may collect contact information from you such as your name, company, title, physical and email address, telephone and fax number.  We may also collect information about topics that you are interested in.  When you register you may be asked to select a password that will be used to allow you to access some of our services as well as your user profile.  If you contact us by email we will collect and retain your email address.

By providing information to us you explicitly agree to our collection and use of the information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Cookies and Do Not Track Disclosure

This site uses persistent cookies or similar technologies to authenticate the user and session cookies to keep track of the user session. A cookie is a small data written to your hard drive when you visit our site. A cookie file can contain information, such as a user ID or other identification that may be linked to your registration information.  We also may permit limited third parties to place cookies when you visit our site to provide us with better insights into the use of the site or user demographics or to provide relevant advertising to you.  These third parties may collect information about a consumer’s online activities over time and across different websites when he or she uses our website. We do not control the use of such third party cookies or the resulting information and we are not responsible for any actions or policies of such third parties.

If you register, join the organization, or sign a petition or other document this website uses a cookie to store a unique user ID. We use this user ID to identify you in our database, which enables you to enter and use this site for communicating with elected and other public officials without having to register each time.  You can disable cookies by adjusting your internet browser settings, but doing so may interfere with your access to the full features of our site.

We do not use technology that recognizes a “do-not-track” signal from your web browser. 

Updating or Correcting Your Personal Information

If you want to correct or update your personal information, you may log into your membership account on our website, or you can contact us by email at info@coalitionforjobsandtheeconomy.org.  We will share your messages with those within our organization that are most capable of addressing the issues contained in your message. We preserve the content of your e-mail, your e-mail address and our response so that we can efficiently respond to any questions you might have. We also do this in an effort to meet legal and regulatory requirements. We will use reasonable efforts to respect your request not to be contacted by e-mail.

Use and Disclosure of Your Information

We may use any information voluntarily given by users to support and advance our mission, including, for instance, to facilitate your communication with public officials, to gauge the effectiveness of certain grassroots activities, or to communicate with you about our mission or other information about us or third parties that we think you might find of interest.  The use of your information is subject to the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions in effect at the time of use. We make sure that your communications are correctly delivered to your elected and other public officials. 

We may use your email and street addresses to notify you of updates, products, services or upcoming events. If you do not wish to receive such notifications via email you can choose to opt out of receiving such information at any time by so indicating either at time of registration, or upon receipt of any promotional email by following the instructions or links in the email.

We are committed to respecting the privacy and security of all visitors to our website and therefore will not share your information with third parties except as described in this Privacy Policy or as permitted by law.

Users who agree to register or join the organization or who sign a petition or other document intended for public use agree to allow their names and organization to be published on this site, as well as on printed material.  Users who post comments or other content on our site understand that such material is available to the public and will not be kept confidential.   Beyond publishing the name (including name of organization where applicable) of those who agree to join or sign a document, we will not reveal, rent, or otherwise make available any personal information or email addresses to unaffiliated third parties unless: (1) if you request or authorize it; (2) if the information is provided to help complete a transaction for you; (3) if the information is provided to comply with the law, applicable regulations, governmental and quasi-governmental requests, court orders or subpoenas, to enforce our Terms and Conditions or other agreements, or to protect our rights, property or safety or the rights, property or safety of our users or others (e.g., to a consumer reporting agency for fraud protection etc.); (4) if the disclosure is done as part of a purchase, transfer or sale of services or assets (e.g., in the event that substantially all of our assets are acquired by another party, customer information may be one of the transferred assets); (5) if the information is provided to our agents, outside vendors or service providers to perform functions on our behalf (e.g., analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, providing customer service, processing orders, etc.); or (6) as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.

Non-identifiable website visitor data may be collected and used in aggregate to help shape and direct the creation and maintenance of content. This aggregated information may be shared with third parties who assist us in the operation of our site or with promoting or improving our site.

We maintain reasonable physical, administrative and technical measures designed to protect information within our systems from loss, misuse or alteration.  In order to maintain the integrity of the personal information you provide online, we deploy computer encryption technology to protect your information during transmission to our site.

 

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.  Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.   You also play a role in protecting your information.  Please safeguard your user name and password and do not share them with others.  If we receive instructions using your log-in information we will consider that you have authorized the instructions. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.  We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove or edit content in our sole discretion.

Virginians for Jobs and the Economy provides you with access to and use of the site subject to your compliance with these Terms.  We provide fact sheets and other documents for downloading on our site, and encourage users to use these resources.  We clearly identify information available for downloading.  Except for materials designated for user access, downloading and printing material from the site, no material from the site may be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted or distributed in any way.

Virginians for Jobs and the Economy has a presence on a number of social media platforms, including Flickr, Facebook, and Twitter.  Virginians for Jobs and the Economy actively encourages discussion, and we urge our users and advocates to share their ideas, opinions, and questions using comment features available throughout the Virginians for Jobs and the Economy site.  We reserve the right in our sole discretion to refuse to accept or to delete comments not meeting our Comment Policy standards.

All comments posted to our site must comply with the following guidelines:

·         Please be sure your comment is relevant to the post, video, photo, etc. to which you’re responding. If you would like to communicate something to Virginians for Jobs and the Economy that does not pertain to the existing conversation or content you can contact us.

We reserve the right, for any reason, in our sole discretion and without notice to you, to terminate, change, suspend or discontinue any aspect of the site, including, but not limited to, information, data, text, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages or other materials (“Content”), features and/or hours of availability, and we will not be liable to you or to any third party for doing so.  We may also impose rules for and limits on use of the site or restrict your access to part, or all, of the site without notice or penalty.  We have the right to change these rules and/or limitations at any time, in our sole discretion.

You agree that no joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship exists between Virginians for Jobs and the Economy and you as a result of these Terms or your use of the site.

 

Any claim or cause of action you may have with respect to Virginians for Jobs and the Economy or the site must be commenced within one (1) year after the claim or cause of action arose.

 

The failure of Virginians for Jobs and the Economy to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.  If any provision of the Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavor to give effect to the parties’ intentions as reflected in the provision, and the other provisions of the Terms remain in full force and effect. 

 

You may not assign the Terms or any of your rights or obligations under the Terms without our express written consent. 

 

The Terms inure to the benefit of our successors, assigns and licensees.  The section titles in the Terms are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.
